I bring you greetings on behalf of Development Partners & Management International Ltd, commonly known as DPM International. DPM International is a socio-economic consultancy offering project management training and services.
The idea was made a reality when on the 18th day of May 2006, the company was incorporated in Jamaica. Business began with a telephone line, one hand-me down computer donated by John Lobban, our co-founder and company Secretary and lots of faith. We hit the ground running and in less than 3 years, DPM International was bestowed with the award for ‘Sterling Contribution to Project Management in Jamaica’ due to our commitment in building the profession locally.
Our core product is project management and we believe that if the individual is empowered to manage projects better, then there will be a positive upshot, whereas resources will be better managed at both the national and international levels.
Thus our first product was an online course, which we named Project Management for Development Practitioners. This course was attended by humanitarian workers, diplomats and international staff from various parts of the world including Belarus, Sudan, Switzerland and the USA. We believe our work should be our worship, and so among other things, we provided scholarship to individuals working with the world’s poorest and who themselves could not afford to pay for the course.
Attention was then focused on Jamaica, where through a strategic alliance with Boston University Corporate Education Center we started delivering various types of project management courses locally. Our training portfolio grew rapidly over the years and in 2012, we established a training Division called the Project Management Global Institute (PMGI), to deliver all Project Management courses.
We consider project management to be such a game changer, and so we have provided an online space where employers may tap into skilled project management professionals, i.e. via the PMGI Job hub. This hub is offered free and is one of the means where we not only build capacity in project management but assist employers in locating competent project management resources
Our mission is to ensure that DPM International continues to innovate, grow and inspire. We are on our way by God’s grace. Today we have a training institution that is globally recognised; and a robust consultancy that manages projects that contribute to national development.
A lot has happened since I took a deep breath, opened my parachute and took that plunge of faith 10 years ago. Now WE are here to thank God. I would like to make special mention of our families, our invaluable staff past and current, adjunct faculties and invaluable clients. We also give God thanks for our Board of Directors, Prof. Carolyn Cooper, Dr Nsombi Jaja and Mr. John Lobban. It’s indeed not cliché to say we could not have done it without you.
We will continue to depend on God for directions for another 10 years. And beyond. We are committed to providing – as our slogans state – Development Your Way and Training that Gets you Ahead. Thank you and have a blessed day.
